Energy & a Suitcase [2012-10-27 04:25:21]
ALBERTA FERRETTI’S cute spinoff label, Philosophy, has a following, but it’s not a closely watched label, as few secondary lines are. So the news that Ms. Ferretti was stepping away from Philosophy and giving creative control to a newcomer, Natalie Ratabesi, caught my eye. Her appointment is noteworthy for several reasons.

In Paris [2012-10-25 02:09:10]
While we had meetings and appointments to occupy our weekdays in Paris (with a few shopping excursions sprinkled in between, of course!), our weekend there was all about simple, leisurely pleasures. We rode bikes around the 9th arrondissement (where we’d rented an apartment for our stay), prowled a local flea market, and whiled away uncountable hours sipping espresso and nibbling at omelets at one cafe after another.

Prabal Gurung for Target [2012-10-23 04:06:25]
Target's next designer collab will be with designer Prabal Gurung, according to breaking news from Target's blog A Bullseye View. I was two years too early, but let it be known that I did predict this collab back in 2010 (here). Prabal Gurung is also one of the 24 designers participating in this year's Target x Neiman Marcus holiday gift extravaganza collection, launching December. 1st.

INEXPENSIVE FASHIONS: HALLOWEEN LOOK WITHOUT A COSTUME FOR UNDER $150 [2012-10-20 01:54:32]
With Halloween around the corner, I thought I would put together a look you could sport on that day that brought in some oranges, but didn't mean wearing a giant pumpkin! Plus, I know not everyone dresses up, however, you might still want to bring in the spirit of the holiday through color.

Animal Patterns on Clothes in 2012 Summer and Spring [2012-10-18 08:53:11]
In a season when grasses are tall and nightingales are in the air, print of flowers, birds, fish and insects is essential for clothes. This season the noisy catwalk is occupied by a Buddhist atmosphere where flowers are pale-colored, birds sing melodiously, fish swim quietly and insects crawl happily.

Glitter Bombs [2012-10-17 01:54:56]
After 10 successful years in the fashion world, the jewel brand Mawi is expanding into bags for Spring/Summer 2013. When jewelry designers transition into bags, the results can be either disastrous or wondrous. In this case, it’s the latter. Mawi (notably, a womenswear designer before she got into baubles) nails the delicate balance between jewel and bag. The bright crystals and spikes that Mawi’s line is known for make appearances on her clutches, as well.

preferred leather jacket [2012-10-16 02:07:27]
I almost forgot about those pictures taken in Paris during Fashion Week. On that day Amandine, Vicky and I met at "Place de la Bastille" (one of my favorite places in Paris) to have a coffee and just talk. And of course bloggers take pictures of their outfits as well, so that's what we did in the afternoon. Et voilà, this is what I wore. Hope you like it!

Macy's, A New Luxury Shopping Location? [2012-10-12 01:59:26]
I must admit, I rarely shop at Macy's Herald Square. It has nothing to do with Macy's as a department store, but more so because of its location and what the flagship store on 34th St. represents in the fabric of Americana. With loads of tourists & shoppers hustling and bustling about, I just never felt comfortable shopping there. But times are changing and so is Macy's. I happened to pass by the Herald Square a few days ago and coincidentally stumbled upon the new and improved Macy's. And boy, have they improved! Their new luxury hall, located front & center near the main entrance will be occupied by luxury brands Longchamp, Burberry, Gucci, and the new Louis Vuitton. The four brands are still under construction--scheduled to open before Thanksgiving--but you could definitely recognize the difference that the $400 million renovations is making. The new marble floor as well as the higher ceiling also felt spacious and, dare I say it, more elegant. If you're ever in the neighborhood, I hope you can make a quick stop and check it out for yourself.
